Shipping and Returns

No. All orders placed on our website must be shipped to a Canadian address. However, SEBO products are sold worldwide. If you are interested in purchasing a SEBO product, please visit the website of the SEBO distributor for your country.

It depends. We typically do not refund shipping costs for items returned for a refund, except in cases involving manufacturing defects. However, we will refund shipping charges when a customer forgets to select ‘free shipping’ for an order totaling over $125.

When an order is placed on our website, we immediately notify a local SEBO dealer, providing them with the opportunity to fulfill it if they have the items in stock. This not only expedites shipping times but also enables us to show our support for local dealers. In cases where a SEBO dealer is not located nearby or lacks the required items in stock, the order will be fulfilled directly by SEBO Canada and shipped from one of our two warehouses situated in Alberta and Quebec.

Providing an exact shipping speed is challenging due to factors beyond our control once an order leaves our warehouse, such as weather and courier delays.

If your order is fulfilled by one of our local SEBO dealers, the shipping time can be as little as 1 or 2 business days. However, if the order ships from one of our warehouses, the typical delivery timeframe is approximately 5-7 business days.

If an item you’ve ordered from our website arrives damaged, there are a couple of steps you can take:

  • If the outside of the shipping package is visibly damaged, you can refuse to accept the package from the courier. A rejected package will be returned to us.

  • If you have accepted the order, please email us at info@sebocanada.ca. Attach photos of the damaged box, both before and after opening it, as well as images showing the damage to the product inside.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us resolve any issues with your order.

To initiate a return, please contact us at info@sebocanada.ca. We will send you an email with instructions for returning one or more items from your order.

In most cases, yes. If you are returning an item because of a manufacturing defect or damage, we will coordinate a courier to collect the item, and the shipping expenses will be covered by us. However, for all other returns, the customer will be responsible for the cost of shipping.

SEBO Canada and our affiliated SEBO retailers use the following return policy on all items wishing to be returned for any reason other than manufacturing defect. Items that have a manufacturing defect should follow our warranty claim procedures by contacting your local SEBO dealer or emailing us at info@sebocanada.ca.

Please view our return policy here.

If you do not have a SEBO dealer in your area, you can purchase bags, filters, and wear parts directly from our website, and we will ship them to you. If your vacuum needs repairs or other parts and there is no SEBO dealer near you, please contact us at info@sebocanada.ca.

Warranty Registration and Warranty Claims

All SEBO upright and canister vacuums come with an automatic 5-year warranty when purchased new for residential use. SEBO vacuums used in commercial settings automatically receive a 1-year warranty. Registering your vacuum is not necessary to have this warranty coverage. However, if you do not register your vacuum, you will need to keep your invoice or bill of sale. The invoice indicates what date you purchased your SEBO vacuum and when your warranty coverage began. If you don’t have a receipt or invoice from a SEBO dealer, we can only use the date when the vacuum was sold to the dealer to calculate the start of your warranty coverage. This may shorten your warranty coverage period.

Not registering your SEBO vacuum means you won’t qualify for our free 10-year warranty.

Note that we do not provide warranty coverage for vacuums purchased used or second-hand.

If your SEBO vacuum needs repairs, we recommend taking it to your closest SEBO dealer. The dealer can diagnose the problem, order parts, do repair work, and process the warranty paperwork with us. To find a SEBO dealer near you, visit our find-a-dealer map.

When you visit a dealer or email us, ensure that you provide your name and the vacuum’s serial number located on the vacuum body. If you did not register your vacuum for the extended warranty and you purchased your vacuum from a SEBO dealer, please provide an invoice or bill of sale from the time of purchase. Even without registration or an invoice, we can still track your serial number, but we will use the last known date when determining warranty coverage, which is when it was sold to the SEBO dealer. This date may be earlier than when it was sold to you.

If there is no SEBO dealer near you, please contact us at info@sebocanada.ca.

We do not recommend attempting to repair your own SEBO vacuum. Trying to repair your vacuum yourself will void your warranty coverage. Our best recommendation is to contact one of our authorized SEBO dealers. They can order replacement parts and handle your warranty coverage. If you do not have a SEBO dealer nearby, please get in touch with us at info@sebocanada.ca. We can either arrange a repair service or provide guidance for minor externally accessible repairs.

Product Information

We can’t speak for every vacuum brand out there, but we can give you a general idea of the average lifespan of a SEBO vacuum. We offer a 10-year warranty on most of our SEBO vacuums for residential use. That means we are highly confident that your vacuum will remain in excellent working condition after a decade of use. In the 10-15 year range, you may start noticing signs of wear, particularly in components like the hose or pigtail cord. If you use your SEBO vacuum reasonably and avoid extensive or abusive use, it’s likely to last for 20 years or more. This lifespan significantly exceeds industry averages because SEBO vacuums are built to endure.

Choosing a vacuum can be difficult, especially when anticipating it will last for the next 10-20 years, as SEBO vacuums do. To determine which SEBO vacuum is the best fit for you and your home, you may be interested in reading a couple of our blog posts: A Guide to Choosing the Best Vacuum for your Home and SEBO Upright vs. Canister Vacuums.

A rotating brush in your vacuum not only stirs up and releases dirt and dust from the carpet pile but also effectively removes hair and fibers. This makes a vacuum with a rotating brush more efficient than one relying solely on suction. Experts, such as the “Gemeinschaft umweltfreundlicher Teppichboden” (GuT) in Aachen, Germany, recommend using a vacuum with a rotating brush for carpet cleaning. In March 1995, “Stiftung Warentest” also noted that using a rotating brush can postpone the need for carpet shampoo or spray extraction cleaning. That’s why we offer high-performance electric brushes like the ET-1 and ET-2.

“S” stands for Schwebstoff-Filter, a filter that, by DIN 24184 filtration standards, must capture 99.97% of particles sized between 0.3 and 0.5 microns. There are two available tests: one for filters alone and one for complete machines. It’s important to note that if a filter meets the S-CLASS standard in testing, it doesn’t guarantee the entire vacuum cleaner will meet the standard when the filter is installed. The independent laboratory SLG in Chemnitz tested the SEBO Automatic X, SEBO Essential G, SEBO Airbelt K3, and the SEBO Airbelt C vacuum cleaners and found that these vacuum cleaners all meet the S-CLASS standard of filtration as complete machines due to a combination of the filter materials used and their dust-tight design.

Consider reading our S-Class Filtration blog post to learn even more about what this standard of filtration means.

People often overlook the on-board storage of the SEBO E-series tools because it is so discreet. We receive numerous inquiries about these ‘missing’ tools, but they have never actually been absent. To locate these tools, please examine the bottom of the canister itself (pictured). The upholstery tool features a ‘push’ button for release. The crevice tool is housed in the nearby circular compartment. If you’ve checked these locations and still can’t find the tools, please contact us at info@sebocanada.ca.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting

You need to replace bags and filters to maintain the health and performance of your SEBO vacuum. The filter bags contain all of the dust and debris that the vacuum picks up and therefore should be changed regularly. The filters ensure that even the tiniest microns of dust are being filtered from the exhaust air returned to your home. A dirty filter will eventually reduce the airflow and suction performance of the vacuum. Furthermore, clogged filters could eventually impact the health of the motor and the entire machine.

  • Filter Bags – Your SEBO vacuum will indicate when the bag is full and needs to be changed. You can also open the top of the bag housing area and visually inspect whether the bag looks full.
  • Exhaust and Pre-Motor Filters – The timing to change filters varies based on usage and debris. For normal use, consider replacing filters every 10-20 bags or after using two full boxes (16 bags) for convenience. This aligns with alternating between bag and service kit purchases.

If you have pets, extra dirt, or frequent SEBO use, change both bags and filters more often.

Each SEBO vacuum model has specific instructions for locating and replacing bags and filters. You can find these instructions in the user manual provided or on our website. For video tutorials, please visit our ‘How-to videos’ section.

No. SEBO filters are not designed to be washed, and doing so will ruin their effectiveness and risk damage to the vacuum. Similarly, you cannot reuse SEBO vacuum bags. Washing filters and reusing bags will also invalidate your warranty.

Every vacuum cleaner can become blocked, but a well-designed vacuum takes this into account and is made to be easy to unblock. Before searching for a blockage, check if the bag and/or filters need replacement. If the bag isn’t full and the filters aren’t excessively dirty, visually inspect the hoses or wands for blockages. Additionally, examine the orange trap door on the underside of your power head, designed for easy access to blockages within. Lastly, check for any blockages in the neck of the power head where it connects to the wand or vacuum body. Carefully remove the debris of any blockages discovered in these areas. Before attempting to dislodge a blockage in the wand, disconnect it from the hose handle and any attached power head or floor tools. If you are unable to clear the blockage, please contact your local SEBO dealer to schedule a service appointment.

All vacuums can develop unpleasant odors. This is typically due to the accumulation of organic materials that have been vacuumed up and left to decompose within the bag or filters. These organic materials encompass a range of substances, such as pet hair, dander, urine residue, and food debris, among others. While even human hair and skin cells left in a vacuum for an extended period can contribute to a foul smell, this issue is particularly common in homes with pets. Regrettably, once a vacuum has developed an odor, it can be challenging to completely eliminate it. However, there are several strategies you can try.

  • To prevent your vacuum from developing odors, make sure you regularly replace your bags and filters. If you anticipate that your vacuum will remain unused for an extended period, make sure to remove a partially full bag before storing it.
  • If your SEBO vacuum already emits unpleasant odors, there are several remedies to consider. Firstly, you can discard the bag and filters and clean the bag housing compartment by wiping it down with a damp cloth and soapy water. Be cautious not to submerge the vacuum or allow any water to accumulate inside it. Additionally, ensure that the bag housing is completely dry before inserting a new bag.
  • We offer SEBO Fresh scented capsules that can help refresh the air as you vacuum, and these can be used even if your vacuum is not currently emitting odors.

Lastly, you can schedule an appointment with your local SEBO dealer for maintenance, and they may be able to thoroughly clean your SEBO vacuum.

Proper airflow is essential for your SEBO vacuum to efficiently pick up dust and debris. Often, long hair and other stringy debris can become entangled in the bristles and wrap around the brush roll of the power head. Any vacuum equipped with a bristled brush roll requires regular maintenance clearing it to ensure optimal airflow and suction.

Moreover, the bristles on a brush roll can wear down or deform over time, much like the bristles on a toothbrush that lose their shape and effectiveness. When this occurs, it’s necessary to replace the brush roll to maintain peak vacuum performance.

To remove the brush roll for cleaning or replacement, locate the button labeled “Press” on the back of the L-shaped power head end. Depress this button while rotating the end cap downward, following the arrows on the side for guidance. This action should loosen and release the end cap. Once the end cap is removed, you can slide the brush roll in and out of the power head. After cleaning or replacing the brush roll, slide it back into the power head, reattach the end cap, and secure it in the locked position.

No. SEBO vacuums are not designed to vacuum heavy-duty construction debris like drywall dust. Fine dust from construction can clog the filter, reducing airflow and triggering the bag-full light to illuminate even if there is space left. Vacuuming water or other harmful substances can damage the vacuum and void the warranty.

A common concern we hear is the brush roll not spinning when the vacuum is on. Before contacting your dealer, here are a few simple checks to make. Many SEBO power heads have a brush roll on/off button, usually on top. This button can sometimes get pressed accidentally, turning off the brush roll. Try pressing it to re-enable the brush roll. In newer models, you might find the button on the hose handle.

For upright SEBO vacuums, ensure the hose is securely reattached to the side of the vacuum, as the brush roll won’t spin with the hose disconnected.

Finally, note that the brush roll will not spin when you have the vacuum in the locked upright position. Release the foot pedal to engage the vacuum and check if the brush roll is spinning.
